But even as the revival of the Second Amendment did not happen instantly, neither will the needed changes today. Trump's victory in November, and the fight over the Continuing Resolution, are just the beginning. I am encouraged that this time Trump is bringing a new crew with him--and many of them are young! The Democrats have been dominated for years by people in their 70s and 80s. Nancy Pelosi getting an emergency hip replacement operation is also a sign of change. I've never had one, but I know a man who had both hips replaced in his 60s--and I know what it did to him. It will be a while before Pelosi can even walk without assistance.
The other major change is that more and more people are realizing that the "bubble" the hard Left has been living in may be popping. They are not a majority--they are actually a small minority. And their treasured Mainstream Media has lost a LOT of its credibility.
"If you men think that I rely on numbers, then all Greece is not sufficient, for it is but a small fraction of their numbers; but if on men's valor, then this number will do."
We have come to expect instant solutions. Notice that regardless of what the Left wants, the answer to "When do we want it?" is always a loudly shouted "NOW!". The Right is not a whole lot better. Running corporations from their quarterly reports is part of the same issue.
You are correct about gun rights, but it took 30 years. 30 years from now is 2054. If we manage to whittle the Federal government back to a Constitutional size in that time frame, it will be a major miracle. It took over 100 years to get where we are. Much as the best expectation for losing weight is "it will take as long to lose it as it took to gain it", looking at reining in the Feds as 100 year project is a much more reasonable expectation.
Despite my daydreams of ripping through the Federal government with a chainsaw until budget and staffing match 1880 (adjusted for population and GDP growth), it would create unimaginable chaos if done in 12 years (Trump + double Vance). Even 30 is fast for that sort of drastic change. As long as the trajectory is promising (finally!), I'm willing to be patient.

I have also noticed that we are microwave popcorn people. Any setback is The End Of The Republic!
Something Mark Levin said in 2010(?) (I paraphrase) "Its taken us 80 years to get to this situation. I may take 80 years to get out."
Excellent article, and we all need to be reminded of the transformative power of stubborn, undying hope.
And since it’s the season, let me draw another parallel example of the importance of never giving up. Almost two thousand years ago a poor modestly educated man of seeming no significance was executed in a horrific and demeaning way in an out of the way backwater province. He had been an itinerant preacher, who had written and published nothing, and spoke an obscure regional dialect. Dying on the cross, his followers were scattered and in hiding; if ever a man was defeated, that man was defeated, and his cause hopeless.
In three days over two billion people will celebrate his birthday and the message he brought into the world.
Galaxy Quest was meant to be "campy"...Alan rickman and Tony Shalhoub characters were LOL funny...Sigourney Weaver NEVER looked better.....made fun of Star Trek fandom but it was the Trekkis who saved Earth in the end...Thanks, Glen...rewatching it tonight!
I want to point out though that the end of the assault weapon ban was, I think, largely because of two studies (one by the Rand Corp, one commissioned) found that the ban had almost no effect on crime or homicides. With leftist control of Universities and think tanks it will be difficult to do this kind of thing now. For example, the few people in academia brave enough to put out studies showing no racial injustice in murder convictions tend to be kicked out of their positions. Academics who show the relative precision and carefulness of the IDF in Gaza are more likely to be beaten up. Etc.
An excellent essay, Glen. The ironic but sad truth is the majority of the attacks on the MAGA crowd by the other side. Amount to almost all the things that they rail against. Such as due process and a "free" press. If you consider the sheer volume of the media stacked up against Trump before the vote. What a resounding vote of confidence Trump won from all across this Country and from every shade of American Citizen. So much for the "legacy" media.
However, Europe is gone and it's not coming back. Ever. Oh well. At least there's three other non-dying continents from which to choose a next vacation.
(I refer to South America, Asia, and Africa. Four if you want to include Mexico and Central America. Australia isn't one. It's dying at European speed. Antarctica? Who wants to go there? No decent restaurants. Unless you like krill.)
One of the moments in history I was present for: Elon's first Mars Society Convention. He described his Mars flower mission and talked about how he couldn't find a reasonably-priced ride for it.
Another moment: I was one of those people who "knew better" and told him to not get into the rocket business.
Never let them get their hands on all levers of power. Never. See Illinois. You can't get a fair trial anymore in Illinois.

Nice points.

All that and they tried to kill him as well!!
Never forget... the Interagency tried to off DJT.

It will not be Trump that wins the war. That is and must be us. The Donald will succeed in giving us the space in which we will make the difference.
