America certainly would be a stronger, wealthier nation if we had two competent parties. We barely have one.

Agree. I grew up as a democrat and almost reluctantly vote republican. This country is stronger if we have two robust, rational parties, as it was designed by the founders.

When I first heard of our bombing of Iran my first thought was, "Oh here we go again!" Trump had campaigned on being a peacemaker and now he's singing Bomb, Bomb Iran? WTF, let the Israelis handle it. You article gratefully reminded me of all the reasons I was wrong and Trump was right in taking this action. Thank you.

Great notes and lessons.

It will take, at least, far more Republicans as professors, administrators, and trustees of all US universities which are tax-exempt and non-partisan—Congress should define non-partisan as at least 30% Republican, and 30% Democrat (registered by end of 2024).

It might also require Reps to win both the House and Senate, the latter with 60 or more reliable MAGA votes. Which might require Reps to primary some GOPe Reps.

Word Salad Harris got almost 75 million votes. The US needs voter ID and paper ballots and Election Day counting & results.

Reps and comedians need to tell funnier jokes, about how stupid Dems are, or how bad their policy results are.

The leftists are happy to identify as Republicans to advance their interests. Make the requirement 30% and they'll have 35% or 40% in no time. No change in personnel, all confirmed Marxists, but the registrations will be legit.

This is one reason so many Republican legislators in red states are unreliable. The people who really, really want to tell everyone what to do don't care how they're labeled. If the only path to power in a red state is identifying as Republican they'll do that. And they do. And they fake it until it comes time to vote against liberty or for oppression.

So far I have seen no examples of best-case-scenarios in the myriad discussions of consequences, and a whole lot of worst-case-scenario hysteria from the usual suspects. Maybe it's too early. Imagine the consternation if:

The Iranian public rises up and replaces its current malign theocracy with something liberal (in the best sense.)

They adopt the Abraham Accords and play nice with the rest of their neighbors.

Sunni and Shia achieve the same sort of accomodation Protestants and Catholics have.

Trump gets credit for it, along with a Nobel Peace Prize.

I believe that you meant “scenaria” – the usual Latin neuter plural, old chap.

Indecies is flagged as a spellcheck error. I think we're in the age of octopuses, cactuses, data-as-singular, indexes, appendixes, and scenarios. That's something to wholeheartedly rejoice in.

Perhaps it’s because you meant “indices”?

The dems, their adjacent media lackeys & the professional chattering "elite" "experts" are more upset that they were caught with their knickers down around their ankles than anything else. That, and that they have revealed themselves as anti-American, globalists more interested in making a buck, than protecting Americans & American interests. The only thing more oblivious than their sense of strategic & operational thinking is the obliviousness to the contempt they so richly deserve.

Thank you for a lucid and clear view of the American action in Iran. As for the Democrats the equivalent to dropping a bomb would be some indictments and convictions. The actions of the Democrats since 2016 has been clearly immoral and as a non lawyer I believe illegal. They are denigrating institutions at I rate I have never experienced in my 74 years. From the executive with lying to congress, suppressing free speech and laundering money through NGOs is breathtaking. No they have moved on to the courts. I would think the majority of Americans no longer have faith in the courts. How that translates to policy I am not sure. Maybe a post on that would be enlightening.

Love the “irrational regime” hypothesis, which likewise serves to explain much of China’s and Russia’s irrational actions on the world stage.

Having just finished a course on Alexander the Great, the way Trump approached the Middle East's established foreign policy frameworks was similar to the way Alex approached the Gordian Knot.

I commend you (if it was you) for coming up with the formulation “once again on the 20% end of an 80/20 issue” which I see more and more these days.

The way many of us used to put this, back in the simpler years of Trump I, was, “if only the Democrats wouldn’t act crazy”. That never got much traction because nobody thinks he is crazy, but I hope and pray that events may eventually force the more rabid Democrats to admit to themselves that they are a small minority, and that it would be better for both them and the nation to tack a ways back to the right.
