The Solar System sits in a bit of a ‘backwater’ in our galaxy. It’s in the Orion spur between two major arms, the Sagittarius Arm and the Perseus Arm. If there were aliens out there traveling in the Milky Way, they’d likely stick to the main spiral arms.
And imho the real question is (as you alluded to): Why travel hundreds or thousands of light years to a planet that supports life - not just life, but life that has radio, TV, computers, rockets, etc. - and then spend your time playing hide-and-seek with airplanes or visiting only with plain folk from podunk towns? If that’s an alien’s idea of a useful activity or just having fun, it’s a lame idea, and I’d question the intelligence of these aliens.
The whole notion of extraterrestrials coming to Earth defies common sense.

My question is: why has nobody ever managed to get a clear, unambiguous photo or video of an alien craft? *Every* UFO photo/video, including the purported US Navy ones, is fuzzy, grainy, blurred, or distorted. Especially in the last twenty years of ubiquitous high-resolution cameras in everyone's pocket I just don't buy it.

I don't believe in aliens. I think they are us only from the future. They are time travelers or tourists. They come to observe but can't reveal themselves. Now I know that sounds like a trope but what if there is some truth behind that trope. What if the trope was created for a reason. It makes the most sense if you think about it.
