Facebook Memories reminds me that five years ago today I was landing at LAX on my way to the funeral of a high-school friend. His death was sadly premature, his funeral was surprisingly joyous as people from all phases of his life joined in remembering him, and he left a special legacy to our friend group, which we observed again this past weekend.
